SEO is the most popular form of online marketing, thousands of websites are battling hard to reach the top of Google and take full advantage of the free relevant traffic available.

However, any good SEO knows that the real key to google search engine marketing is link building and not all links are equal, in fact Google clearly states it prefers one way links rather than artificial link partnerships and gives more weight accordingly.

At this point you may be asking yourself why Google treats one way links differently. The truth is Google’s algorithm is the reason they are successful and they use the webs link graph to decide which sites are popular on the web and which ones are not. Reciprocal links or link exchanges ruin Googles unbiased ranking system and make it difficult to know which ones have genuinely been given.

There is another factor to this as well. Google quite openly states it prefers editorial links, or links that have been given because a particular site is a quality resource. Editorial links are just about always one way and usually with in the content of a post or article.

One way links are usually given to web pages because the content on that page deserves the link, therefore Google reward that link by giving it more weight than it’s reciprocal counterpart.

So to round things up, one way links rule because they covey more trust, they look more natural and are usually given through an editorial nature, so go out and find out how you can get as many of them as possible.
