Tips on mailing a resume to mail jobs

Address to a Specific Person

1. Address the envelope to a specific person. If unsure who will receive the resume, call the possible place of employment. Many times the human resources department will tell you the name of the interviewer, if asked who the hiring manager is for a particular opening. Double-check the spelling of first and last names.

Include a Cover Letter

2.At all times send a cover letter with a resume. Cover letters should be typed about the specific job opening and why you are a good fit for the position. Avoid sending a standard generic cover letter. Ensure the cover letter is directed to a specific person.

Remember Mailing Date

3.Track the mailing date. Once a resume has been mailed, waiting for an interview call seem nerve racking. Call the human resources department or contact the hiring manager asking where they are in the interview process and their time frame if there is no response within one to two weeks. This is especially vital when interviewing with various companies–so you can weigh your best options.
