They set up tests people have to pass in order to become a accountant, and also give the requirements of what courses must be taken, and what degrees must be obtained. In the end they are the ones who deny or grant people their certification of being an accountant. They also have the power to revoke that certification. The three main organizations that perform these tasks are CPA Australia, National Institute of Accountants. and the Institute of Charted Accountants of Australia. CPA is one of the most well known and probably one of the largest.
CPA Australia is very important to accountants. CPA stands for Certified Practicing Accountant. It is against Certified Public Accountant, which is what most other countries, including the United States, use. CPA Australia is also one of the largest global accounting bodies around the globe. It even manages accountants in Asia Pacific. CPA Australia has a lot of power when it comes to accounting. They have many strict requirements that anyone who is hoping to become an accountant must pass in order to start a career or business in Australia that involves accounting.
CPA Australia has a very long history. It did not just start in one day. It evolved from the merging of many different organizations from the best, and had a few name changes. It was given the name CPA Australia in April 2000. Before that, it was known as the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants. The form that it is in now originates from the Australian Society of Accountants back in 1952. The organization that manages accountants, that we know as CPA Australia today, actually started back in the 1800′s. Back then there was several organizations that managed accountants. After many years, a lot of those organizations decided to combine themselves into one large organization. Then as time went in more and more organizations join the collaboration. This continued and eventually led to the creation of CPA Australia. No other organization has a history like CPA Australia, or is as important.
